Remembering Wildlife, the groundbreaking fundraising photography book series, has revealed the 20 winners of its competition for images to appear in its forthcoming book, Remembering Giraffes.
Giraffe numbers have fallen by around 40% in the last three decades and, in some parts of Africa, they have disappeared altogether. Remembering Wildlife aims to fund protection projects with profits from sales of Remembering Giraffes, which will be the 11th book in the series that has already donated more than £1.26m GBP ($1.64 USD) to 82 projects across 35 countries since it launched in 2016.

Remembering Giraffes
The book will be published on 12 October 2026, and the 20 winning images will sit alongside stunning pictures of all four species of giraffe, donated by many of the world’s leading wildlife photographers, including Wim van den Heever and Daryl Balfour, two of this year’s competition judges.
The list of winners is truly international, with photographers hailing from the UK, India, USA, Germany, Australia, Poland, Kenya, Switzerland, and South Africa.
Remembering Wildlife exists to raise awareness of the plight facing wildlife and also to fund efforts to protect it. Famous supporters of the Remembering Wildlife series include Pierce Brosnan, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ricky Gervais, and Russell Crowe.

Margot Raggett MBE
The series of books was created by wildlife photographer Margot Raggett MBE, after she was moved to take action upon seeing a poached elephant in Kenya. Ten books have been published so far – Remembering Elephants, Remembering Rhinos, Remembering Great Apes, Remembering Lions, Remembering Cheetahs, Remembering African Wild Dogs, Remembering Bears, Remembering Leopards, Remembering Tigers, and last year’s landmark book, 10 Years of Remembering Wildlife. Exactly 300 of the world’s best wildlife photographers have now contributed their work to the series, working under the banner of ‘Wildlife Photographers United’.
Remembering Wildlife founder and producer Margot Raggett MBE said:
“Photographers from around the world answered our call once again and entered striking images of giraffes in their natural habitat for our competition. These 20 competition winners rightly deserve their place among our regular contributors, whose stunning work has made the series possible.
“Giraffes are disappearing because of habitat loss, poaching, and civil unrest and, because they are quiet, gentle creatures, their decline has gone largely unnoticed. The good news is that, where giraffes are protected, populations can recover. Remembering Giraffes aims to shine a light on the threats affecting giraffes and help ensure that future generations don’t just remember giraffes but see them standing tall in the wild.
“Our aim is for Remembering Giraffes to be the most beautiful book on the species the world has ever seen.”
In addition to wildlife photographers Wim van den Heever and Daryl Balfour, this year’s judging panel also included photographer, publisher, and mentor Eddie Ephraums and Remembering Wildlife founder and producer Margot Raggett MBE.

A Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to raise money to produce the book hit its £20,000 minimum target within the first five minutes of going live on 27 March, and topped £107,000 in the first 48 hours. The Kickstarter runs until 8pm UK time on Sunday 26 April. Exciting rewards are available for supporters, depending on the amount pledged, such as first-edition books, prints, jewellery, and safaris.
