Who is this for?
The Trip will be of interest to both those new to Photography as well as the more experienced, either using DSLR or Film cameras. The emphasis though will be how to get the most creativity out of your camera, a rolling work-shop if you will, and not simply visiting photogenic locations. We keep the groups’ small, maximum of six individuals.
North Jutland is the most northern point of Denmark, marked by its unique rugged landscape, sculptured by the violent natural forces of the environment. The North also has more hours of sunshine than any other part of the country, in mid summer experiencing over 18 hours of daylight! This part of Jutland is a peninsular, with the Kattergat sea to the West, the Skagarak on the East and it is partly due to such geography, the reflective properties of these surrounding seas, that the region is known locally as “The Land of Light”. From an artistic point or view it was first discovered in the late 1800’s, initially by Scandinavian painters, attracted by the scenery, it’s inhabitants, but certainly too by this special light, it encouraged them to paint in the ‘En Pleinair’ (out-door) style following the example of the French Impressionists but too adopting the Realist approach of the Barbizon School (Romantic Realism).
This jewel of Denmark is spacious, under-populated and remarkably friendly with an easy going and open nature. Northern Jutland is Robert’s home, where he & his family have lived for the past decade. The region is astonishingly beautiful and completely off of the traditional British Tourist Map, probably because many decades ago Scandinavia had the reputation for being expensive… this is simply not the case though I believe this belief still sits firmly in the British psyche… Good news for us as we’ll be experiencing an absolute hidden gem of a destination 1.5 hrs. flight from London.
Our accommodation and base for the trip will be in the low-key picturesque seaside village of Tverstead on the Northern coastline, arguably the most beautiful coastal destination in Northern Jutland, if not Denmark as a whole.
Start Finish; the course starts upon pick up at Aalborg airport Thursday afternoon and finishes when guests are returned to the airport Sunday morning.
