Im an English Travel Photographer based in Hania, Western Crete, Greece.
Ive led a nomadic life since leaving the U.K. in 1987, and thoroughly enjoy the ideal combination of travel and photography.
Blue Vase, Red Steps. Chania Old Town. Western Crete,Greece.
My images have been published in Travel Magazines and Guide Books such as
Berlitz, Conde Nast Traveller, Dorling Kindersley, Fodors, Insight and Michelin plus many International Tour Operators brochures.
Photography; its all about Images, isn't it. But during my travels I frequently see people with compact to expensive Digital SLR's, shooting only the picture postcard views, all at the wrong time and sunsets. They were missing so many true photographic treasures that I decided in 1998 to start my Photo Workshops, with the first one being in Crete.
Indeed one of my bookings from that time is now a Lonely Planet photographer, who also has her own Photo Tours, so I must be doing something right!
My job is to capture the essence of a country/destination with style and I pass on my knowledge, advice etc to clients.
From novices, keen amateurs and professionals have joined me in the past, and all have enjoyed themselves.
The only thing I ask is that they are familiar with their camera and instruction book, as I am no expert on how all the many types work!
And depending on clients experience, we learn about composition, f stops, depth of field, etc.
Many folks know all about these things anyway and are happy to get on with the picture taking. Also we talk about digital workflow, and how to market your photography.

The thing that most people are happy with at the end of the course is that their visual awareness, or creative visual stimulation, is increased.
People have to teach themselves. I just let them know whats going on and show them the doors.
I guess what I show folks is that pictures are everywhere, if you have the imagination and eye.
Here is a summary of destinations offered.
Crete
Western Crete is able to astound the visitor more than other parts of the island, and Chania Town, with its labyrinth of Venetian and Turkish alleyways, has the most picturesque harbour in Greece.
As I am a long time resident, I'm able to reveal the many hidden facets of this fascinating area.

Discover the charms of an enchanted island in the beautiful Aegean Sea, North of Greece and birthplace of Sappho. Capture picturesque cobblestone streets surrounded with Ottoman architecture, Venetian fortresses, ancient monasteries and miraculous icons. Savour traditional village life, and Ouzo, hopefully after some evocative photography.
