File Sharing for Photographers

When Daniel Frank the President of HostedFTP.com emailed WPA and suggested we give their file sharing program a test drive I was slow to take up the offer.  I played a bit, uploaded some files and thought well it might be useful sometime in the future. Don't make the same mistake as me! When I created an account using the 30 day free trial and really looked at what this piece of software has to offer I saw how beneficial it was going to be. Its ease of use in a very secure environment plus the added advantage of branding made sure I added this piece of essential software to my photographic tools. Read More...

Ed Jones, Photographer: A Personal Journey

“At 25, I have survived on jobs that paid under minimum wage; I’ve had to fight to get paid at all. I’ve been accused of being too maverick, I’ve worked for nothing, I’ve had my hopes dashed at the last second, and I was once was turned down for a job for being ‘too keen’. The trade off is that I am closer to gaining access to the type of career that I want, and that despite some testing times, I have enjoyed the ride so far. Taking photographs is not something I do between 9 and 5.” Ed Jones, photographer and risk-taker, on what it took. Read more...

A Printing Exercise
A lot of people starting off in digital think that with all the automatic features, taking wonderful pictures will be a dawdle. Then when they got home and load the images onto their screen they are often sadly disappointed. Oh dear another candidate for the dustbin? No hold on a minute.

When many of us were messing around in darkrooms, muttering weird incantations, we would often pull a strip of film from the processing reel and holding the dripping length of celluloid against an inspection light we would wonder what the hell had gone wrong? Read more...

There are many other exciting sections including articles about camera collectables which will not be dull and boring, but funny and entertaining. This series will explain about the history of the camera and that fast disappearing medium - film, and how it all evolved.......... and just what is a darkroom!

Photographer Wilf James, whose idea it was to create World Photo Adventure (WPA), a site where photographers the world over can come and share their passion for photography and adventure, exchange information on how to take better photographs, no matter what their level, and showcase their photographs and their stories.

"World Photo Adventure is here to help build a photo community with information and images about what's available if you are interested in going on a photo workshop, trek or tour. It is now so easy to search the web and find that special photo trip or workshop you want to take that will help improve your photo taking skills. How do you find out information about a company and if it is really what you are looking for? If you have participated in a photo workshop, photo tour or adventure activity, please write and let us know what happened!" Wilf James
